# She Said Yes: A Golden-Hour Proposal at Dongbaekseom Island, Busan There is something truly magical about the coastal light in Busan.


While Seoul offers timeless historic palaces and buzzing neon alleyways, Busan brings the romance of the ocean, dramatic coastal cliffs, and sweeping golden-hour sunsets.


When this client reached out to me secretly planning a surprise proposal during their trip to South Korea, we knew we needed a location that combined natural coastal beauty, intimate privacy, and iconic views.


We chose the coastal wooden walkway of **Dongbaekseom Island (동백섬)**, just off the edge of Haeundae Beach.

### The Big Moment: A Sunset Proposal Overlooking Haeundae Timing is everything when it comes to surprise proposal photography.


We coordinated meticulously beforehand: I arrived early at the agreed vantage point along the scenic deck, blending in naturally while keeping an eye out for their arrival.


As the sun began to dip behind the horizon, casting an incredible warm amber glow across the water, he dropped to one knee. The sheer surprise and emotion on her face was pure magic. Without hesitation, she said yes!

### Why Dongbaekseom Island is Ideal for Proposals in Busan


If you are planning to propose in Busan, Dongbaekseom Island is one of my highest recommendations for several reasons:


1.**Stunning Variety of Backdrops:** Within a short 10-minute walk, you have rocky sea cliffs, pine-lined coastal trails, views of the Nurimaru APEC House, and the futuristic skyline of Haeundae’s skyscrapers.

2.**Softer Crowds Compared to the Main Beach:** While Haeundae Beach can get extremely crowded, the observation decks and hidden boardwalks around Dongbaekseom offer pockets of quiet intimacy.

3.**Unbeatable Sunset Lighting:** The western-facing coastal views provide some of the richest golden-hour tones anywhere on the southern coast of Korea.

### Heading Down to Haeundae Beach for Blue Hour


After wrapping up the first part of our session at Dongbaekseom, we took a short walk down directly onto the sands of Haeundae Beach as dusk settled in. Transitioning from golden hour into **blue hour** completely shifted the mood.


The sky deepened into a soft pastel indigo, the ocean breeze picked up gently, and the daytime crowds began to clear. Walking hand-in-hand along the water's edge allowed the couple to truly soak in the reality that they were now officially engaged.

As twilight deepened, the skyline behind Haeundae Beach came alive with shimmering city lights.


The combination of gentle waves, soft evening ambient light, and glittering high-rise backdrops gave our final portraits a romantic, cinematic feel.


We captured everything from playful phone snapshots of her new ring against the dusky sky to candid strolls and a celebratory kiss by the sea—the perfect grand finale to a life-changing evening in Busan.
